The National Academy of Sciences incorporated Dr. María Cristina Añón in "recognition of those who dedicate their lives to science, both for the merit of their scientific and personal background and for what they have done for the development of their specialty in Argentina ".
The act of incorporation was held in the city of Córdoba on August 4, 2023, during which Dr. Añón offered the conference "Food proteins: beyond nutritional contribution".
Dr. Añón is an Emeritus Researcher at CONICET, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Exact Sciences of UNLP and head of the "Laboratory for research, development and innovation in food proteins" of CIDCA.
Dr. María Cristina Añón graduated in Biochemistry and received her doctorate from the Faculty of Exact Sciences of the National University of La Plata where she began her teaching career, later she entered the newly formed Center for Research and Development in Food Cryotechnology, a center that He came to direct between 1985 and 2002.
Dr. Añón has received numerous awards and recognitions for her career and scientific and teaching work: Bernardo Houssay Award, the Award for Scientific, Technological and Artistic Work from the Faculty of Exact Sciences, UNLP, and the Konex Platinum Award, area Agronomy, Veterinary and Food, among others.
