The “Center for Research and Development in Food Cryotechnology”, currently “Center for Research and Development in Food Science and Technology” (CIDCA) is an organization created by an agreement dated February 10, 1973 between the National University of La Plata, the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and the Scientific Research Commission of the Province of Buenos Aires (CIC). It currently depends academically and administratively on these three organizations.
Our first director was Dr. Alfredo Calvelo between 1973 and 1985. Subsequently, the direction was exercised by Dr. María Cristina Añón, from 1985 to 2002, and by Dr. Noemi E. Zaritzky, from 2003 to 2016.
CIDCA is a multidisciplinary scientific-technological research group devoted mainly to Food Science, Technology and Engineering.
We are located at 47th St., 116th St., inside one of the UNLP premises in the city of La Plata (See Location).
Since October 2024, the name of the “Center for Research and Development in Food Cryotechnology” has been changed to "Center for Research and Development in Food Science and Technology ”, keeping the same acronym CIDCA, change proposed by the authorities and the Board of Directors of CIDCA and subsequently approved by the provisions DI-2024-553-APN-GDCT#CONICET, R. Nº 216/24 of the UNLP and RESO-2024-6-.
